Course Description
The QNUK Level 3 Media Safety Advisor Training (MSAT) is a three-day course preparing security professionals to work alongside international news teams in hostile and high-risk environments.
The course was designed by Ken Perry, Managing Director and founder of Cosain Consultancy, drawing on more than 30 years working with major international news networks across wars, conflicts, natural disasters, riots and demonstrations. It has run since March 2022 and major networks send their own in-house staff to attend.
It is aimed at security professionals moving into media security, and is a recognised first step into that work.
Course Overview

What's Inlcuded
Twelve modules across three days, including: working with media; planning and self-sufficiency; vehicle and travel safety; personal security; riots and demonstrations; press and accountability; working with military and security forces; kidnap and ransom; terrorist incident and active shooter response; and de-escalation.
Guest speakers from journalism, access to Cosain’s network of security professionals, the opportunity to apply for forthcoming industry positions, and a networking event on the final evening. Course workbooks must be completed within 7 days of the course finishing.
Entry Requirements
Aimed at security professionals moving into media security. No prior media experience required.
